Compensated pistols and ported slides and barrels are becoming increasingly popular across the handgun market and for good reason – they work. While they do make most guns more obnoxious to shoot indoors, in competition and self-defense situations the reduced recoil can make a huge difference in shot placement or the speed of follow-up shots. The SIG Sauer P320-XTEN COMP is SIG’s offering to those who like to carry around the power of a 10mm semi-auto pistol, but want something more controllable. SIG claims that with the P320-XTEN COMP’s new bull barrel and ported slide, there is a 20% reduction in recoil making it easier to shoot with hot 10mm ammunition.

20% Less Recoil – The New SIG Sauer P320-XTEN COMP
NEWINGTON, N.H. – The 10mm SIG SAUER P320-XTEN COMP is the first carry-size P320-XTEN from SIG SAUER and delivers significant recoil mitigation without sacrificing the power of 10mm required for the backcountry.
“The P320-XTEN COMP answers the call of enthusiasts for a 10mm carry size handgun fully optimized for hunters, fishermen, and hikers. Beginning with the new carry size 10mm/45 ACP grip module, the P320-XTEN is a smaller package for all-around easier backcountry carry,” said Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President Commercial Sales, SIG SAUER, Inc. “Additionally, through the pairing of the ported slide and Bull Barrel, the P320-XTEN COMP delivers a 20% recoil reduction and brings with it the exceptional accuracy and durability that are the hallmark of the P320 and XSERIES pistols.”
The SIG SAUER P320-XTEN COMP is a striker-fired pistol chambered in 10mm AUTO with a polymer XSERIES carry size 10mm / 45 AUTO grip module, Nitron finished slide with integrated expansion chamber for recoil mitigation featuring front and rear serrations, a PRO Optic-Ready footprint, XRAY3 Day/Night sights, and a flat XSERIES trigger with a 90-degree break. The P320-XTEN COMP ships with (2) 15-round steel magazines and is optimized for use with the SIG SAUER Electro-Optics ROMOE2 and ROMEO-X Pro red dot sights.
The New P320-XTEN COMP is probably more suitable for those who want to use it as a sidearm during hunting season, or those who who just love to shoot 10mm pistols. The new P320-XTEN COMP has a suggested price of $949.99 keeping it around the same price as the previous non-comped iteration of the P320-XTEN. Do any of you carry or use a 10mm pistol for hunting or self-defense? If so, do you think the addition of a comped slide gives you any significant advantage? Let us know in the comments!
