Thanks for joining us for another TFB Wheelgun Wednesday, where we cover all topics that revolve around revolvers. Somehow, we seemed to have missed the advent of red dot compatible holsters from Speed Beez, until I stumbled upon Resputin’s Reddit thread, from which he gave us permission to use his photo you see above. Attaching red dot optics to pistols and revolvers isn’t exactly new, but finding holsters for revolvers equipped as such will still yield few results. What’s more, is that Speed Beez even has an option to cover the large red dot optics typically seen on Smith & Wesson’s TRR8 and R8 revolvers, while other options are geared towards the standard and micro-sized red dots.

Wheelgun Wednesday @ TFB:

Speed Beez Red Dot Compatible Holsters For Revolvers

The Speed Beez holsters are made of Kydex, and cover S&W’s J, K, L, and N frame models, all of Ruger’s double action models, and surprisingly, the Chiappa Rhino and Rock Island M200 models. Each of Speed Beez’s Kydex holster models is made to be worn Outside the Waistband (OWB) and comes with several different mounting options to meet the wearer’s preferences. Speed Beez’s features and description can be found below.

I’ve been seeing red dots on revolvers for a few years now, yet it seems to be coming on at a slower pace than the pistol market. However, I’m glad that the holster market is starting to catch up since holsters are such an essential accessory for handguns, and as a reminder, I hope to have my review of the Taurus 856 Defender TORO equipped with a red dot out soon, which will include a review of Harry’s Holsters’ prototype “Monocle” holster. In general, I’m eager to see for myself how red dots equipped on defensive revolvers compares with their semi-auto counterparts. If you’ve already done this for your own revolvers, how has your experience been?

One unique feature of the red dot compatible holsters from Speed Beez that I like is that they emboss the model of its specific design on the side of the holster. Perhaps this is just the organizer in me, but I think it also projects a certain level of pride or appreciation in the shooter’s choice of sidearm. What do you think about that aspect?

As for Resputin’s example in the title image, he mentioned that his choice of optic, the Vortex Strikefire II, while large, actually balances the S&W 327 TRR8 nicely since the revolver itself isn’t overly heavy to begin with. This revolver and optic combination looks to fit perfectly in the Speed Beez kydex holster. As I mentioned above, it’s not completely uncommon to see this size red dot on that specific revolver while perusing the interwebs. Feel free to check out his thread and discuss here as well.

You can view all of Speed Beez Kydex red dot compatible holsters for revolvers HERE, which are listed for $87. You can also go to SpeedBeez.com to view all of their revolver and semi-auto products. What do you think about the Speed Beez red dot compatible holsters? If you’ve already been using one, let us know how your experience has been. Have you been tempted to add a red dot on your revolver? If you already have, which optic and revolver combination did you go with?
